Welcome to The Patron Post
By The Patron Team · Editorial
Welcome. The Patron Post is the new home for the conversations we have every day with Omaha-area families trying to do right by their parents.
For twenty years, the team at Patron Senior Living has helped families navigate the messy, emotional, and surprisingly logistical work of caring for a parent who needs help. The phone calls usually start the same way: "Mom is fine, but..." Then comes the story. A fall. A missed prescription. A grandchild noticing something in the freezer that shouldn't be there.
We wrote this paper for the people on the other end of those calls.
What we'll publish
- Practical guides for the things you only learn by living through them — hiring an in-home caregiver, evaluating whether a parent can still live alone, navigating Medicare, the differences between assisted living and home care.
- Field notes from caregivers, nurses, and family advisors who do this work every day in Nebraska homes.
- Local stories about the Omaha senior-care landscape — policy changes, community programs, events worth knowing about.
- Honest answers to the questions families ask us most. We'll skip the marketing language and just say what we'd say to a friend.
Who it's for
Adult children stepping into a caregiving role for the first time. Spouses watching a partner change. Grandchildren who notice things before anyone else does. Healthcare workers and case managers looking for plain-language resources to share. And anyone in Omaha thinking ahead about what care for their own parents — or themselves — might look like in five or ten years.

The easiest way is to subscribe by email — use the form at the bottom of any page on this site. You'll get each new story in your inbox within a day or two of publication, never more than once or twice a month. No spam, no upsell, easy to unsubscribe.
